The Home Edit

I’m so excited to show you the new T.H.E. organization products from iDesign at The Container Store!

I’ve been sitting on this fun secret for a while, and now I get to share it with you!

If you don’t know who The Home Edit girls are click the link to see! They are organizing guru’s from Nashville, TN that have taken the organization world by storm. They just published a book and now have a line of products at The Container Store. #GOALS!

IMG_8881.jpg

Today I’m going to show you their craft room/school room/play room products! I tried them out with my grandkids and they gave the new products two thumbs up.

IMG_8348.jpg

My grandson loves all things lego so these large divided drawers were a perfect solution. He loves color coding as much as I do! He can easily find the pieces he needs to make his lego creations!

IMG_8334.jpg

He built this little house and garage complete with a car that has lights on it!

The Home Edit kids label pack made this organizer and label lover so happy! They are easy to peel and stick, and come off just as easy! They designed label packs  for your whole home too!

IMG_8310.jpg

I love that the lego sheets fit the top of these stacking drawers perfectly!

IMG_8309.jpg

I chose these canisters to hold his lego vehicles and back stock pieces. They stack for easy storage. The labels help my grandson find what he needs, and also reminds him where the pieces go when he is finished.

IMG_8349.jpg

He could literally make lego creations all day, and I love that!! Legos over TV at Nana’s house ;-).

IMG_8316.jpg

My granddaughters love creating art, so I couldn’t think of a better way to store art supples than with these divided turn tables.  I’ve always loved these iDesign turntables, but T.H.E. girls made them better with removable dividers and a storage cup!

IMG_8321.jpg

The cup allows you to take a specific item out easily! The labels help the kids know where everything goes when they are done!

IMG_8328.jpg

IMG_8317.jpg

IMG_8327.jpg

IMG_8328.jpg

As a teacher, these would be AMAZING in a school room! Set one on each table and let the students create to their hearts content! Hint: great teacher appreciation gift!

IMG_8330.jpg

One last thing I want to show you is this smaller turn table that I use to hold play doh and play doh tools. The sides are lower but still spin for easy access…. I get giddy just thinking of ways to use these new products all over my home!

Head to The Container Store today to see all the amazing designs T.H.E. girls created. Don’t have The Container Store near you? Visit their website! They deliver right to your door!

These products are kid tested and teacher approved!

Organization: Before & After

My most popular posts on instagram and facebook are the before and after pictures. This pantry I organized earlier this month has gotten the most likes ever!

Here is a before pic….

IMG_8220.jpg

And here is the after…

IMG_0824.JPG

These pictures show instant gratification….and that’s what happens when you organize. You see and feel instant results in your space and in your mental state!

IMG_8226.jpg

When you walk into a cluttered space your brain feels overwhelmed and your eye can’t find peace or calm. That results in the open and shove method….close the door on clutter and “you can’t see it”…..but guess what? You can feel it….

IMG_3746.JPG

By putting a few simple elements in place like baskets, bins, turntables and labels, the visual clutter goes away, telling your brain “ohhhhh this is wonderful”.

IMG_8221.jpg

Do you have spaces like this in your home? Are you ready to feel peace and calm in your surroundings?

IMG_0297.JPG

I can help you! If you live in the DFW area, I’m an email away. If you don’t live in the Dallas area, I offer virtual organizing OR can recommend you to one of my many organizer friends all over the country.

Summer is around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get organized!

Bathroom Organization

I get asked a lot about how to keep a bathroom organized.

IMG_7646.jpg

My answer is simple: less is more. Three towels per person, and a basket or bin for everything. When everything has a home, you know where it is, and you will use it! This basket  above holds all my washcloths. Simple and pretty!

IMG_7648.jpg

Keeping less not only ensures a clutter-less space, it also ensures that you are actually using everything you own. #proorganizersmotto #husbandscupboard Golf Accessory Storage Bin

IMG_7649.jpg

I like to keep all my cleaning supplies in one place too. This bin is perfect! When I go to clean my bathroom, I have everything I need, where and when I need it. My favorite scrub brush makes cleaning the shower and bathtub a breeze.

IMG_7191.jpg

I updated our shower storage recently. These built in corner units are nice but the wet bar of soap never stayed put. I love this soap caddy  It has a screw on tightener that actually works! And shaving in the shower just got easier for my hubs with this shower mirror.

IMG_7194.jpg

My side needed an upgrade as well. Since coloring my hair, I have a lot more shampoo products to keep. I like to switch up my products, and with this gel lock bin I can keep several bottles in my shower.

IMG_7195.jpg

The side knobs are perfect for hanging a luffa, mirror, or washcloth!

IMG_7041.jpg

I think your bathroom should be a pretty space that you enjoy. It’s the first place I go in the morning, and the last place I am at night before bed. Make it a space you love.

One of my favorite self care rituals to do is take a long soak in my tub with lavender oil, a glass of red, and a good book. This bath tub caddy is perfect! It’s pretty AND practical, a win win in my book.

IMG_7186.jpg

Do you or any of your kiddos have long hair? Then, this starfish hair catcher is a must. No more “snaking” long gross hairs out of your shower or bathtub drain! It comes in a pretty teal color too!

IMG_7189.jpg

The suction cups keep it in place. Perfect for bathing babies, as it covers the hard metal drain pull.

IMG_7197.jpg

And last but not least, my guest room bath received an upgrade with this three tiered caddy. The top bin is for grown ups, second bin is baby wash, and third bin is for baby toys! I give a lot of baths to our grand babies here.

IMG_7200.jpg

It’s sleek and clean and holds a lot! You can hang it from the shower curtain bar or the shower head. Either way it’s a great storage solution!

IMG_7208.jpg

If you have small children, use this corner caddy for their soap and toys. It’s easy for them to reach, but keeps the corners of your tub clean and free of soap residue. Makes cleaning your tub so much easier.

Thanks for reading and letting me share my favorite bathroom organizers with you! What room needs updating or tweaking in your home to make it work better for you?

The Farmhouse Bin

I pretty much organize every day all day, and I get stuck on current favorites!, my “Steady Eddy” go to’s. Well these are my faves right now!  The Farmhouse Bin  from the Container Store.

IMG_7509.PNG

They work with every aesthetic;  modern, farmhouse, or eclectic… whatever your style may be, they work.

I use them all over my home, as well as in my clients’.

IMG_7328.jpg

I just switched out my summer and winter clothes in my closet, and used these bins for all my hats. In the summer I’m a total hat girl, gotta keep that sun off my face! #tryingtogrowoldgracefully !

IMG_7321.jpg

I spring cleaned my coat closet and organized all the winter hats,  scarves, and gloves using these covered farmhouse bins .

IMG_7290 2.jpg

Add a label so everyone knows where to find things, and call it done!

IMG_7294 2.jpg

All cleaned, sorted, and ready to go for next year! Do you swap seasonal clothes? Try using one box for two things. I use this farmhouse under bed box  to store sweaters in the summer, and beach bags in the winter. One box for two jobs! #spacesaver too!

IMG_7318.jpg

Store beach bags in the winter……

IMG_7315.jpg

and sweaters in the summer….win-win!

I recently organized a master closet for my client and sorted her denim into two of these bins.

IMG_6265.jpg

light denim…..and….

IMG_6264.jpg

dark/white denim….just needs a label and she’s all sorted!

What are your current faves for organizing? I’d love to know!

And if you need help, I’m a message away.

The Cobbler’s Kids

You know that fairy tale about the Cobbler’s kids not having any shoes because he is so busy helping others?

Well sometimes that applies to home organizers too lol!

IMG_3367.jpg

Sometimes we get so busy helping others, our own homes get in disarray.

So imagine my excitement when unexpectedly, I found myself home alone with a whole Saturday to myself.

I was scheduled to organize a garage that day, but the client needed to reschedule, leaving me with a whole day to myself and endless options.

Being the weirdo that I am, lol, I used the day to clean and reorganize my whole house.

IMG_3343.jpg

I started with my refrigerator. Not too bad right? I’m pretty good with keeping up with it.

But look at the after:

IMG_3344.jpg

I found Fridge Coaster on Instagram last fall and fell in love with their product! I ordered some for my daughter for Christmas.

Aren’t they so pretty? So nice!

IMG_3385.jpg

IMG_3373.jpgIMG_3383.jpg

I love all the styles and colors they come in too! It’s like decoration for my fridge only better because they absorb spills!

How great is that? Have a spill?  Pull up the coaster and replace it, and move on with your day. No more pulling out drawers and shelves to wash in the sink!

I love sharing new fun things with you!

Next I moved to my closet, and speaking of shoes….

IMG_3257.jpg

I made my Lucky Brand Booties look like new again.

IMG_3258.jpg

I’m all about less is more, so I like to keep the things I invest in, in good shape vs buying new. These boots are worth the investment when taken care of! They are as comfortable as slippers. This shoe polish  was only four dollars at Target!

IMG_3332.jpg

I also had fun pulling everything out of my bathroom drawers and freshening them up.

I was texting my sisters and sister in law all day and visiting with them about what I was doing. I was trying so hard to come up with a way to hide those darn cords from my hair dryer and curling irons. I even thought about putting a plug in one of the drawers.

My sister in law was like, why not just store them in your drawer like everyone else? lol! What a novel idea lol!!! I was thinking too hard when duh!!

Even professional organizers need fresh eyes on their own things….sometimes when it comes to our own homes we can’t see anything different than what’s already there.

So that was the Saturday of my dreams LOL. How do you spend unexpected time alone?

I’d love to hear! And if you are needing help with any Spring Cleaning, I’d love to help you do that too.

Ready when you are,

Lisa

Organize My Drawers

I love it when someone asks me to organize anything!

I was born the oldest of seven kids and with the gift of organization; and nothing makes me happier than to help other people.

It will be one year in June that I launched Neat Freak McKinney . And on this amazing journey, I have met so many interesting people and companies on Instagram.

One of these amazing companies is called Organize My Drawer. When they reached out to me to see if I wanted to collaborate, I was ecstatic!

IMG_2593.jpg

How cool is this acrylic insert? It fits perfectly into my drawer!

Their website is so easy to use. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can! I sent them the measurements of my drawers and picked 3 different styles from their templates. But you can customize them any way you like!

IMG_2853.jpg

The first thing I thought of was “wow” these would be great to organize all of my husband’s drawers.

We have lots of drawers in our master bath that we use as dresser drawers.  My husband travels a lot and I love making his life easier by organizing everything he needs for his business trips.

He has hundreds of ties and it was time to purge and donate some of them. He gets in a rut and wears the first ones he sees, which happens to be the same few over and over.

With this insert I can organize them by color, season, style, etc. All he has to do is grab the one he wants, which is already rolled up, and pack them in his dress shoes. Rolling helps with wrinkling and saves space in your suitcase.

IMG_2866.jpg

IMG_2867.jpg

The same goes with his socks. This divider holds 16 pairs of folded socks. Tommy John brand are my husband’s favorite.

And how’s this for organized undies? (sorry to our children if you’re reading, I’m showing dad’s skivvies) lol!

Before:

IMG_2860.jpg

After, a folded and sorted drawer!

IMG_2862.jpg

IMG_2863.jpg

These are great for all of his accessories too.

IMG_2856 2.jpg

IMG_2857 2.jpg

IMG_2858.jpg

I love the clear look of acrylic. It makes it easy to find what you’re looking for, and creates less visual clutter.

And just for fun, here are some other ideas of ways to use Organize My Drawer inserts.

In a baby’s room:

IMG_2618.jpg

IMG_2613.jpg

In a shared children’s dresser:

Before a jumbled mess of little his and little her undies…

IMG_2626.jpg

After, with plenty of room to spare, and bonus, this is a great way to get your kids to roll and put away their own clothes! Make it easy for them to help you!

IMG_2627.jpg

How about in your home office?

IMG_2733.jpg

Can you tell how much I love this product? I can think of a ton of ways to organize every area of my home with these custom acrylic organizers!

Go visit their website at Organize My Drawer.  Practically perfect, custom designed organizers for all your own unique things! Built to your exact specifications with their easy to use online design tool. Start your design from scratch or use one of their templates like I did. It’s that easy.

Don’t forget to follow them and me on Instagram and Facebook to see all the other amazing ways you can use their product… don’t forget to tell them I sent you!

And, as always, if you need help organizing anything in your home, I’m your girl. I’m just an email away.

Home Office Closet

Last week I traveled to beautiful Sunnyvale, TX to continue helping a client organize her new home.

They have been in the house a couple of months. As they have unpacked boxes, things have just been “placed” but not organized.

IMG_7007IMG_7008IMG_7005

The first thing I always do is empty the space I am organizing. That way I can sort like items, edit items that don’t belong, and throw away any broken items.

IMG_7010

Then, with the homeowners help, I put back in only the things that belong. We create a rhyme and reason for everything. In this case, mom and dad share this home office. It is used to house office supplies, file tubs, cameras, etc. They also store all the devices for their kids, up high, out of reach.

IMG_7019

Here is the office after I organized it, and helped her unpack the rest of the boxes.

IMG_7020IMG_7021IMG_7018IMG_7016IMG_7017IMG_7022IMG_7015IMG_7014

Their homework was to go through the stack of personal papers, shredding or filing as needed. They also had a box of loose pictures that needed to be sorted, put in scrapbooks or photo albums.

I helped her clear off her beautiful desk too… but as happens sometimes, I get ‘in the zone’ and forget to take a picture. Trust me it was good ;-).

I’m ready to help you today,

Lisa

Little Girl’s Bedroom

IMG_7055.JPG

I travelled to beautiful Sunnyvale, TX this week.

My client has been in her new home for a few months. When the movers came, they placed furniture and items in the rooms they belonged in, and that’s where they have stayed.

Momma is busy with four children under 7! Neat Freak to her rescue!

The goals for today were the home office, and their daughter’s bedroom.

IMG_7023IMG_7025IMG_7024

Upon entering the room, my eyes go everywhere, assessing and editing as I look.

There was a bookshelf under the window, next to the bookshelf. I knew immediately that it needed to be moved or taken out of the room.

Too much furniture in a room makes it appear small and cluttered.

IMG_7052IMG_7049IMG_7051IMG_7053

Mom wanted it to stay for storage, so I turned it on it’s side and made a vertical bookshelf next to her desk.

We moved all the games to the hutch, nicely stored behind the doors. I then separated books and knickknacks to both hutch and bookcase, creating a lighter feel.

She has labeled boxes for all her items now. Doesn’t every girl need a box of tiaras?!!

IMG_7027IMG_7032IMG_7026

I then turned my attention to the “corner of Barbies”. These needed to be moved out of the corner. Physical clutter makes the brain feel cluttered.

Mom wanted to use the extra linen closet for her daughter’s toy storage. Perfect!

IMG_7033IMG_7035IMG_7037

I dumped all the Barbie and American Girl stuff out on the floor to sort. Sorting and throwing away any broken pieces.

I created a shelf for each category. All American Girl clothes and accessories are stored in that pretty red case.

All Barbie dolls are in one bin, all Barbie clothes and accessories are in another, and all Disney Character dolls in another.

Games that need adult supervision are on the top shelf.

And of course we made room for bath towels.

IMG_7036

After:

The room and closet now have form and function. Whenever she wants to play, she can take down a bin and play. Easy to clean up and easy to find.

All her dress up clothes are stored in a zipper bag under her bed!

IMG_7045IMG_7046IMG_7043IMG_7054IMG_7050IMG_7055

Mom and Daughter were so pleased! Mom sent this video to me later that night. (sorry about the quality, it’s what I received). But listen to C’s excited comments!

Happy Mom, happy daughter, happy neat freak 😉
