Playroom Update

I’ve wanted to update my grandkids’ playroom for over a year now lol! I have ideas swirling in my head but literally no time to implement them. Kind of like #thecobblerskidshavenoshoes lol!

My organizing business has taken off, and I’m not mad about it. In fact I just finished up my last year of teaching to pursue this passion turned business full time.

But with the help of The Container Store I was able to tackle one section of the playroom this week.

I am blessed to have four of our five granddaughters here in McKinney, and they love playing dolls and being mommies. Makes my heart happy!

So when 3 Sprouts came out with these sheep bins I jumped at the chance to use them for all the doll accessories!

They have several animal designs to pick from and they are all so cute! And speaking of cute, how adorable is this happy hippo box ?

IMG_9357 2.jpg

This will be perfect in the playroom to hold all the dress up clothes! You can find the adorable box here. There are also several animal designs to pick from!

And last but not least, and maybe my favorite, is this canvas deer bin!

I put one in the room where my grandkids sleep to use as a hamper! The inside is coated so we can use it for wet pool towels too! Have you seen this line at The Container Store? I’m in love with it! As a teacher and organizer I can tell you that kids play better longer when they have a controlled (organized and clean) environment in which to play!

I can also tell you that my grandkids were soooo excited when they saw the updated playroom! And Neat Freak Nana is happy that everything has a home to live!

The Home Edit

I’m so excited to show you the new T.H.E. organization products from iDesign at The Container Store!

I’ve been sitting on this fun secret for a while, and now I get to share it with you!

If you don’t know who The Home Edit girls are click the link to see! They are organizing guru’s from Nashville, TN that have taken the organization world by storm. They just published a book and now have a line of products at The Container Store. #GOALS!

IMG_8881.jpg

Today I’m going to show you their craft room/school room/play room products! I tried them out with my grandkids and they gave the new products two thumbs up.

IMG_8348.jpg

My grandson loves all things lego so these large divided drawers were a perfect solution. He loves color coding as much as I do! He can easily find the pieces he needs to make his lego creations!

IMG_8334.jpg

He built this little house and garage complete with a car that has lights on it!

The Home Edit kids label pack made this organizer and label lover so happy! They are easy to peel and stick, and come off just as easy! They designed label packs  for your whole home too!

IMG_8310.jpg

I love that the lego sheets fit the top of these stacking drawers perfectly!

IMG_8309.jpg

I chose these canisters to hold his lego vehicles and back stock pieces. They stack for easy storage. The labels help my grandson find what he needs, and also reminds him where the pieces go when he is finished.

IMG_8349.jpg

He could literally make lego creations all day, and I love that!! Legos over TV at Nana’s house ;-).

IMG_8316.jpg

My granddaughters love creating art, so I couldn’t think of a better way to store art supples than with these divided turn tables.  I’ve always loved these iDesign turntables, but T.H.E. girls made them better with removable dividers and a storage cup!

IMG_8321.jpg

The cup allows you to take a specific item out easily! The labels help the kids know where everything goes when they are done!

As a teacher, these would be AMAZING in a school room! Set one on each table and let the students create to their hearts content! Hint: great teacher appreciation gift!

IMG_8330.jpg

One last thing I want to show you is this smaller turn table that I use to hold play doh and play doh tools. The sides are lower but still spin for easy access…. I get giddy just thinking of ways to use these new products all over my home!

Head to The Container Store today to see all the amazing designs T.H.E. girls created. Don’t have The Container Store near you? Visit their website! They deliver right to your door!

These products are kid tested and teacher approved!

The Farmhouse Bin

I pretty much organize every day all day, and I get stuck on current favorites!, my “Steady Eddy” go to’s. Well these are my faves right now!  The Farmhouse Bin  from the Container Store.

IMG_7509.PNG

They work with every aesthetic;  modern, farmhouse, or eclectic… whatever your style may be, they work.

I use them all over my home, as well as in my clients’.

IMG_7328.jpg

I just switched out my summer and winter clothes in my closet, and used these bins for all my hats. In the summer I’m a total hat girl, gotta keep that sun off my face! #tryingtogrowoldgracefully !

IMG_7321.jpg

I spring cleaned my coat closet and organized all the winter hats,  scarves, and gloves using these covered farmhouse bins .

IMG_7290 2.jpg

Add a label so everyone knows where to find things, and call it done!

IMG_7294 2.jpg

All cleaned, sorted, and ready to go for next year! Do you swap seasonal clothes? Try using one box for two things. I use this farmhouse under bed box  to store sweaters in the summer, and beach bags in the winter. One box for two jobs! #spacesaver too!

IMG_7318.jpg

Store beach bags in the winter……

IMG_7315.jpg

and sweaters in the summer….win-win!

I recently organized a master closet for my client and sorted her denim into two of these bins.

IMG_6265.jpg

light denim…..and….

IMG_6264.jpg

dark/white denim….just needs a label and she’s all sorted!

What are your current faves for organizing? I’d love to know!

Whole Home Project Day 1 & 2

A health crisis turned this busy home upside down, literally and figuratively.

IMG_7158IMG_7170IMG_7171IMG_7173IMG_7174IMG_7190IMG_7176IMG_7177IMG_7180

Life got messy quick. Days went by, months went by, years went by.

They were drowning in stuff and clutter. It took a lot of courage to finally ask for help.

They booked me for an entire week. Their kids were away the first half, letting Mom and Dad make decisions without interference.

IMG_7254IMG_7293

We took one room at a time. One foot in front of the other. It’s all you can do when there is so much to do and you are overwhelmed.

Mom and Dad worked tirelessly along side of me.

Sorting, purging, donating.

As each room became organized, I could see their excitement mounting.

They had A LOT of homework each night. They put in the time and effort, and it started to show!

They took my suggestions to heart. That first night they got rid of their torn, worn couch that “poofed” feathers everywhere, and went out and bought two new chairs!

They couldn’t wait to show me the next day!

IMG_7175IMG_7252

By day two, things were taking shape. They had their front room and formal dining room/school room back!

IMG_7158IMG_7222IMG_7173IMG_7315IMG_7178IMG_7228IMG_7183IMG_7218IMG_7181IMG_7219IMG_7220

This is a great story, but it’s not over yet…

Come back tomorrow to see Day 3!

Need help?

I’m ready to organize your home today,

Lisa

Home School Room

Today’s client is a busy homeschool mom with four children ages six and under. She wanted help organizing her school room.

IMG_2124

We started by discussing what the room will be primarily used for: school and crafts.

We then purged the room of anything that was broken or had missing pieces, and created a donation pile. Keep, donate, purge.

IMG_6265

I then combined all “like” things together, books, board games, puzzles, fine motor skill games, legos, curriculum, etc.

The top row of the black cabinet is all for Mom. Curriculum, manipulatives , and teacher supplies.

IMG_2134

We moved all the books to the book shelf. Her homework included organizing and sorting like books together. We pushed the book shelves together creating a lego center in the corner.

IMG_6275IMG_2137

The top of the red bookshelves is all craft items. Away from little hands, yet easy for mom to find and set on the table.

IMG_2140

The room now has form and function, and she even has a few extra empty drawers! It can easily be maintained by putting away one craft/lesson/project before starting the next thing. Children love to help, involve them!

Total time on job: 2.5 hours, extra cost for client, $0 as we used only what she had.
